In Ubuntu I go to Synaprtic Package MAnager and I find almost everything I want in juts five minutes.

Linux is a very flexible system. As it was said, everything depends on a distro and the hands. It seems that you configured a messed up one, I use Ubuntu, and everything works fine for me.

i used linux for 5 months and then i stopped. you know why? because the linux community sucks. to them it's all about having an epeen, and not about the OS. they hang around in irc channels all day sharing screenshots.

windows may not be perfect but it works and when i have problems, they're always easy to fix. i don't have to visit irc channels and forums to meet guys jacking off to screenshots.

just my 2c

P.S. i don't think linux will ever win against windows— it's just too big by now

Dell D500 and 505 no wifi problems --- MINT is great sorry to say it but try another or get another laptop with i guess dell wifi chips i don't know what kind they are but they seem to work well w/ Linux and Dell has Ubuntu laptops so... yeah
