The roots of Car Room TV were in these "Playing With Cars" video reviews - the first time anyone had attempted to give models a fully produced, hands-on assessment from a collector's point of view. We've recently found a sizeable stash of these older vids - and we're only too happy to bring 'em back! Each clip featured original music, and was taped over the course of several days, then edited into segments that were played on the original "Car Room" site. We're calling these golden oldies "Car Room Retro" - and we hope you'll enjoy the trip!

    Shocking..... detail on that caddy.

Do you have any ideas about where can I get this model on Hungary?

I would love to keep one in my hands :)

  • @MegaZsolti Hello! The best bet would be to contact The Danbury Mint directly. They might know of a way to get one, but as far as we know, the models are sold out. You could try searching auction sites like eBay or GoMotorBids, to see if a seller has one.

    Good Luck! Thanks for watching!

  • @Thecarroom Okay might try it lol

  • This is one AWESOME model. I just discovered your channel yesterday and I would like to thank you for your uploads. :)

  • @Thecarroom i thought about it once again, and well, I don't think theyll say yes...

    (Well, not sure in it)

  • @legr8est1234 We love the classics, too - there are so many outstanding cars yet to be done. We only hope that the ones that do get done get done as well as these!

    Thanks again for watching!

  • @Thecarroom I hear that. I'm not much of a classic car collector, but these models do offer the opportunity for much more intricate detail than a traditional modern "shell."

I wasn't sure of the difference in the manufacturing process between DM and CMC, but I can understand why CMCs would cost more to make. Still, both companies churn out incredible-looking models.

  • @legr8est1234 We hear that a lot. These truly are amazing models, especially for the money. The principal difference between, say, the CMC 1:12 Horch and these DM Caddys is the techniques used to build the bodies: The Horch is made entirely from sheets of hand-formed, soldered-together copper, and it's comprised of literally thousands of parts, whereas the DM car is mostly diecast. Not that one's better than the other, just different. We wish either company would do a Duesy or Packard...

  • At $500 (when it came out), this seems like a bargain compared to CMC's 1/12 models, which command over $2000. This seems to be at least as detailed and well-built as any CMC or Exoto.

I would guess a collector wanting to get his hands on one of these today would pay a lot more than the original price, but it's still amazing that Danbury Mint would sell such an incredible piece of work for so little. There are lower-quality 1/18 models that cost more than this.
