Whats the fun in that, unless you are doing it just to save money. FUN, and the great feeling or proud that you made a mechanic out of youself is the real reason most people attend in DIY projects. It is all about enjoyment and pleasure. Now if you have better things that gives you happiness in life, then you are definetly right.

learn a lot first, read a workshop manual for your car cover to cover, only fix what needs fixing. You will find yourself pulling the wrong bit apart and not have fixt the real problem...

my vast experience with cars and tools etc says this, get a second job and pay a mechanic to do it!
