Portia de Rossi interviewed at the Big in '04 Awards (December 1, 2004) by (the very annoying) "reporter" Wendy Williams. This was also the night Portia OFFICIALLY hooked up with now WIFE Ellen DeGeneres.

They had met a few years (back in 2000 - 2001) prior to their OFFICIAL hook up, but never acted on their feelings for each other until that night back on December 1, 2004 at the Big In '04 Awards.

Ellen and Portia were LEGALLY married August 16, 2008.

aw, man its so sad to see her closeted and so weird to see it actually on camera. I bet this would be hard for her to watch now. Wish I could go back in time to then and show her a clip of her on the Ellen show now and how happy she is now.

@moogle301 you're correct. Portia had never been a guest on Ellen's show before they became a couple. She wasn't a guest until March 2009 and she came on to promote her (then) new show Better Off Ted. She never actually was a guest until after they were married.

Here is part of an interview where Portia talks about wearing fur this night:

"When Ellen and I got together (that night), I was wearing fur and she was wearing very expensive Italian calfskin leather," said Portia. "She was giving me a hard time about wearing fur and I said, 'Why is a fox any more important than a cow?' We took that idea and went all the way with it. We are doing what we can. We are not perfect. We still have some leather."

They met at a photo shoot in 2001, they both had the same serious girlfriends back then as they did the night they hooked up. Neither of them acted on their feelings toward each other that day because they were in relationships with their women, they didn't DO anything about it until that night on December 1, 2004... They then both broke up with their girlfriends for each other a few days later, moved in with each other and lived happily ever after.
