Originally this mehfil was in color. When the film was released, the theatre owners had arranged for incence sticks and Rose water to be sprinkled during this mehfil. Unbelievable but true!

  • Extremely sorry for my previous post. As during listening this mehfil, I saw Ladies stood up for Tazeem, when the wording of this mehfil, asked them to stand-up. So no need to clarify. I am myself feels guilty for asking such question. GOD will forbid and pardon me.

  • No problem. After all we all are humans. But I am glad you understood why the ladies got up in respect, before anyone had the chance to get back to you..

  • This is beautiul and so sad..My eyes are wet....overwhelming..

  • I remember watching this in theater and everyone in the theater used to get up for taazim during the milad. Good old days.

  • Seems my first comment was not posted. So re-posting:

This is from the Pakistani social film, Eid Mubarak, directed by S. M. Yousuf and released in 1965. The musical score is from A. Hameed. The leading roles were Zeba, Rukhsana, Habib and Iqbal Yousuf, the son of the director (who later went on to become a successful director himself). This movie was filmed at Eastern Film Studio, Karachi (at Habib Bank stop, SITE)

  • One can still find two preserved monuments from that Exhibition - a curving shape with Karachi Expo Center written at the top and the other a minaret or Burji type structure.

  • The earlier exhibitions were held at a place adjacent to Mazar-e-Quaid-e-Azam (hence, the name of the bus stop Purani Numaish or Numaish).

Can you guess what was that deserted place where this Industrial Trade Exhibition a truly International event of the time was taking place? The present day Karachi Expo Center, opposite Hasan Square and Civic Center !!!
