The hallways at Taft Middle School get crazy after school two days a week. That is because 75 middle schoolers and a eight educators are training for the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon. These kids are overcoming a lot to run. They are working on the Couch to 5k training and two are training for the half marathon at Taft, led by Principal Lisa Johnson and teacher Ellen Cooper. "We have a 98 percent free-and -reduced lunch rate. This is the one sport that they could take through the rest of their lives," said Johnson while training with the kids recently. "We want to transform these kids mind, body and spirit."

It didn't take long for the word to get around that Taft needed some help to make a real difference in the lives of these kids. The Oklahoma City Running Club, Landrunners, joined forces with the Memorial and Museum to make sure these kids will be at the race on May 1st. Watch their inspiring story.
