Fitz Lang's 1927 film Metropolis is my all time favorite silent movies. It is a classic and a legend. With the recent discovery of the lost footage I wanted to try do something to celebrate. So I tried my hand at trying to color some stills from this picture. You will first see the original black and white them my color reproduction of it. Please enjoy. The music is a song I Wrote called " Space Fight"

  • what software did you use for the colorization process ?

  • @abn666 AKVIS Coloriage very easy to use actually

  • @legomegacy no but there is a demo

  • just to note I do not want to see the movie colorized I just wanted to experiment with colorizing b&w photos

  • I'm usually really 'skeeved' when someone messes around with someone else's masterpiece. However, this is kind of a cool alternative vision. In limited use, it's great. Now, go create your own work. That I'd really like to see. There seems to be some true talent here.

  • Anyone who complains about colouring something that was black & white is a complete anal retentive. They didn't film Metropolis in black & white for some artsy value, it was due to technological limitations. Had Fritz could have, I'm sure the film would have been as colourful as an aging hippies tie dyed shirt. I liked what you did, I'd like to see the whole film in colour, hell, i'd even like to see some CGI inserted in there a la Lucas (no not really, that's where i draw the line!).

  • You realize what you've done, right? It has to be done now. Some fans are gonna be angry - very angry, but others . . . they are going to LOVE IT!

The business men are already licking their chops at the profits (but I could care less about that). As a fan, I'm ready . . . Take Me Away . . . Back to the Future . . . IN COLOR

  • I'm sorry but I think color would destroy the experience. Good job but I don't think it fits.

  • Why should you wanna do that ? No Really, WHY?

  • I don't know how it would look, if the entire movie was remade like this, but as pure pictures they look amazing,i would like to print them and hang them up as pictures !

  • 0:32 IT"S TIMA!!!

  • @legomegacy is it freeware ?
