  • Happy Retirement Jim Boyd. :)

  • Are they kicking him out too? After Randy Price (7) and now Dick Albert too.

Often in broadcasting, 'retirement' or similar terms are a euphemism for 'fired cause you're too old'. Same in politics- "I need to spend more time with my family' = fired.

Todd Gross: "They are going in a new direction." = fired, on the spot- during the newscast (He's now in Utah).

I didn't hear about Boyd til now though..

  • I think he retired on his own terms. I know he had been with 'CVB since its '72 inception. I do know he last aired in December, think the exact date may have been the last day of 2008.

  • If true, better that way..

  • Delta had some incidents back then with their planes landing at the wrong airport. Humorously, their slogan was "Delta Get You There!" Not necessarily the right location, but they get you there. :o)

  • Why? She was lovely!

  • This is a funny flub on WCVB-TV channel 5!!!!!!

  • wow, I forgot I couldn't stand Susan Burke!

  • That was a pretty interesting segment on Howie's show. I didn't really realize that he did an act at 7, to appear that he was just one of those people. When I found out that he was trying to change the format to go back to a lesser dramatized newscast (7 in recent years tried to liven' things up by taking the real WSVN format of extreme drama). He just kinda shocked me by what he did - thats a little acting for you. I loved the intro him saying: "the door hit me on the you know what?!"

  • The media business is sooo in dire straights now, its not even funny. They were just like the financials and the dot-coms, instead their bubble lasted for a good fifty years. They got ridiculous high margins, ratings, and revenues. The top 50 DMAs were the often the cash cows for that amount of time and networks started to buy more O&Os in mid markets. Then the consolidation of the media groups, factor in corporate management, with business stupidity and not capitalizing on the Internet.

  • the Howie Carr show on WRKO AM 680 did a piece for randy price boy was he ticked

  • Hate to say it, he's getting even more and more ratings now. I don't care for him because he comes off as arrogant and attacks. (Though I know people like what he has to say.) To the point, News Corp reported a drop in earnings, and it may effect the FNC's bottom line. If anyone is going to get hit, I bet it will be Greta or Hannity giving notsogood ratings at those times.

  • man...if it would just hit fox news channel...they would start with Bill O'Reilly.

  • The media as we knew it for the last 50 something years is looooonnnnggg gone now. I think well known anchors are going to have harder times getting another job at other stations giving the current media market woes and economy. Never mind sharp declines in ratings and ad revenues in large markets, i.e. Boston and at least the top 30 DMAs. The small markets might do better for a little while, at least... The WSJ did a story a couple weeks ago on the front page about this.
