http://www.elca.org/townhall - ELCA Presiding Bishop Mark S. Hanson hosted an online town hall forum for ELCA members on Sunday, March 7, 2010. Members from across the country could ask questions live and have as many of them answered in the time allowed.

  • ELCA little children in Sunday School now belong to a church body that gives their blessing to homosexual relationships. What if one of those children asks their SS teacher: "Does God think it's OK to be a homosexual?" If the answer is yes, then the Bible says: "If anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in Me (my addition-baptized children) to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and be downed in the depths of the sea." (Matthew 18:6)

  • When the ELCA allowed homosexuals to be pastors does that mean that a member of the ELCA can expect to get sound spiritual counseling from man who regularly practices anal sex with another man who lives with him in the parsonage?

  • There didn't seem to be a welcome to any and all questions about the homosexual clergy issue. In the one question that was asked the bishop seemed bloviate and shirt the real issue. Here's a question I have. Did the ELCA add another district to the synod in August: Sodom and Gomorah?

  • Growing up in the ELCA and being a current UMC member, I am grateful for the full communion agreement. I think the UMC can help the ELCA with the diversity issue, an example is the Rethink Church campaign and the advertising on the radio that I hear- on a rap station actually!
