Prince was the first t well known artist that they made one for. By making guitars for and with well known artist the company became known. Before that they were about to go under. Even though the Taylor logo was not on Prince's guitar word spread and Taylor became a brand name.

yeah i'm pretty sure thats an ebow. steel string sounds sooo much better for this style of music.
