These tips seem useless, as a mortgage broker I have never been asked these questions. If someone did ask I certainly have a list of clients who would be willing to share their experience, but even a bad mortgage broker can find some references, whether it be friends etc, so this seems like a pointless step in the process. That is my opinion coming from a mortgage professional. I would recommend to get a friend or co-workers referral from someone who has used the mortgage broker before.

It is indeed to make sure to avail a loan to the most trusted company in your area to avoid being buried with huge debt.

I think the key here is advise. Your mortgage is a major part of your cash flow.
You can save thousands of dollars every year and pay off your mortgage sooner.
One example is never buy mortgage insurance from a mortgage broker or a bank. The insurance is expensive and only covers the mortgage. If you leave the mortgage (bank) you just lost your coverage.

How would someone know if the past clients were actually real clients? The mortgage broker could be giving you the phone numbers of people who had no business dealings whatsoever with the broker. In other words , they could just be friends of the broker or they could have been paid off to rave about the broker's services. A shifty mortgage broker is just as likely to furnish you with a list of 'satisfied clients' as an honorable mortgage broker is.

these are very common sense statements which are applicable to ANY business. i believe you should be asking the same questions fromt he people that you are working with at your job. you will be surprised how many of them are happy to be there.
then again, common sense is very un-common these days.

ALL ARE SHILLED CENSORED COMMENTS.
In Canada, privacy laws restrict the release of any client information including client names.
If this guy is so smart he would have known that.

Actually most good mortgage brokers have past clients who are willing and okay with sharing their experiences. No privacy laws are broken when the client gives permission for their story to be shared.
