Well ebgt302, when the xr6 was first released back in 93 it beat the xr8 down the 1/4 mile by 1.7sec. So back then you paid an extra $6000 for a bigger heaver CAST IRON motor with only an extra 20hp and that costs a mint to get any real power out of it and chews more fuel then a cruise liner (18L per 100Kms) standerd. So really you sould sit down and think who is the fuck head here???.... You should upgrade to a 4litre lol... :-)

the ef had the coil pack the el's went back to the dizzy setup due to problems with the early coil packs wasent till the au when they went back to the coil packs

Gday mate how ya going dont mind me i own an EA2GHIA with ED reco Head Genie Headers K&N the usual, and I know these cars back to front. Mate ive looked at that motor i think you just changed your rocker cover~ no affence or nothin. Power steering belt is still the early E-series type inlet manifold ~ ~ Thermostat housing is the same and early E-seies Radiator hose~ Thermos well everyones done that. lol everyone who owns an E-series has done i just put an AU rocker cover on mine lol so yea.

Im a mechanic buy trade and I can tell u for sure that it is a EL motor not just a rocker cover its just not running the BBM and serp belt as I did not have a manual PCM at the time to run the BBM and could not run the serp belt as dont hav A/C on bord and cant find a replacement pully. I hope this answers your questions. But I am building up a AU motor for it should be in it buy Sep. So far the EL motor in it has recorded a 13.99sec pass down the 1/4 mile at willowbank.

@dbpmotorsport I generally agree with what you are saying, how-ever: The 4.0 is CAST IRON (alloy heads, cast block) too... it does weight a bucketload less due to being heaps smaller. The Ford V8 wasn't really worth buying over the amazing 6 until AUII with the hand built 220Kw mill...
