This video shows some actions made using a multitouch capable tablet.
These actions are handled natively by the new Linux kernel 2.6.30 meaning that you can now produce the same effects shown in proprietary systems.

I've just started using linux mint on my laptop and I'm dissapointed that I can't scroll with touch or move icons around. I can only select stuff. Its a shame because the desktop looks so slick and sophisticated the way I've customised it. Is there somehting that can be done about this? am I missing something orare there other distros that are better with touch at the moment?

The only distribution that uses multitouch in quite a lot of places in ubuntu. You can move windows, icons, slide, etc.
I have also made a small daemon which read multitouch events and according to rules user define, it controls legacy applications to "appear" as mt apps. (look at other videos)
A new tool or let's say concept is being developed here, so you may more information in the future.
I am curious to look at a screenshot of your customised desktop. Can you post it to my Google+ profile ?

Hey, I installed ubuntu and found an add on called grab and drag that enables me to scroll. Maybe I could have just done that with mint but it was giving me internet connection problems too. I like it more than ubuntu though so I might go back to it. If I do, I'll send you a picture of my desktop. I didn't do anything major, just the right theme and background and it looked awesome. I'll check out your other videos.

oh, of course not, you'll just have to reverse engineer whole hardware to write proper drivers, but who cares, way to go, Gentoo!

Would it be so hard to get an iPad, jailbreak it, and install Gentoo on it?
