This video shows a HD rendition of an espresso shot on a Speedster espresso machine, using a factory-modified chopped portafilter.

The Speedster includes both manual and progressive preinfusion, and this video shows the effects of a manual preinfusion, followed by pump-driven extraction.

  • Amazing in HD! What did you use to film this?

  • Hi there - shot on a Canon 5D MkII; I can't remember the lens, but it was probably my 24-105L

  • would you recommend using such a portafilter on a semi-manual say like a Silvia or francix! X model ?

  • Sure, don't see a reason not. But I prefer exposed portafilters for evaluation purposes; I stick to spouted PFs for shot pulls I drink to enjoy.

  • Awesome video, but you say the pre-infusion takes 4 seconds, where it clearly takes 10 seconded... but I get the same 10 secs on mine, so that seems okay

  • fucking beautiful.
