I think they great band and the singer and his brother are insane which is even greater.

With all due respect to everyone's opinions here... there is nothing BLAND about this version. I personally prefer all the Kinks' originals to every cover I've ever heard, but that's just me. Van Halen has to know what they're doing if they know the Kinks' material to begin with, so I respect both versions.

Apples to oranges -- a great great song and kudos to anyone who plays it.

@magilla878 This version is very bland compared To Van Halens. Ray Daves may have wrote it but Van Halen improved upon on it musically. Eddie is a much better guitar player than dave. I think you took my critisim a little to personally. By the way i would not know what being in jail is like.

@magilla878 Fvck your stupid ass. Do you realize that Ray wrote it?
Not even Eddie VH would make such an idiotic claim, but then you listen to Van Halen and as such you are, a priori, a toothless methhead hunk of white trash. Have a pleasant life until your next incarceration.

@rintinthesir True that. I enjoy both versions. I hate narrow mindedness of any kind. It's irritating when people don't respect the music that came before what they like, and it's also irritating when people aren't willing to open their minds to new stuff. I'm almost 50 years old and I still check out new music. In my youth I also have always respected music from past generations. That's the only way to fly.
