Plus I would rather a brother writing about urban fiction, then out really living that ish! It's sad how we try to hold each other back. Forward progress is progress even if another being don't agree with the content, graphics. It's art, it's a voice for those living in the hood, & can relate.These authors that talk about living in mansions & working high profile jobs. It can be reality for some, but not for those living straight in the hood. It's time to realize supply and demand.

I have read some street literature that drove home some very important wisdom in life. Many people are being crabs in a bucket. Upset that other brothers and sisters are making money off of their art. Truth of the matter is if these young ones, or ones that read urban fiction literature wasn't reading it...I'm sure they wouldn't be picking up anything else except maybe a magazine with a rapper on it.

Very important topics brought out by everyone. It's true that it's important to get folks reading. Folks are always saying don't judge a book by it's cover. Yet and still you hear some of the highest paid authors on here....judging books by it's cover. Not even trying to read a urban fiction book but judging it.

This needs to become an HBO Documentary. It doesn't get any deeper than this, because this is as real as it gets. As a Self-Published Author, my approach is raw, thought-provoking, and life changing!

This was great! I'm 24 I've written several urban fiction novels. I'm finally thinking about sending my work off. I'm hitting up teri woods publishing first. On the real if it wasn't for urban fiction/street lit I would have never picked up a book. People should stop knocking this and be glad that we're picking up a book instead of picking up a gun, picking up crack selling ass etc. like someone said in this clip they want to support these movies but not urban FICTION. Whats really good!

Instead of us fighting with each other we should be encouraging urban fiction to evolve into the type of fiction/ non fiction that becomes uplifting to us all as race to rise above all the bullshit and not let it just be covered up. I don't care if you are a black person making big moves on wall street or suffering in the jungles of Africa we all know and understand the pain of racism so lets rise above it!

Let's be real people, sex and violence sells. Basic business 101. I have no problem with people getting money. I am infuriated by the feeling of righteousness displayed by the writers of filth in the black community. Who do you think buys this crap? Honestly, your target audience is the teen youth.

But all credit aside, there is one "major" issue that is being totally overlooked by the authors of urban literature. When you "glorify" the streets, no matter if it's real, the positive message you include in each passage is trunceted by the appeal of the sex and violence you are "Selling" to the black community.
