This is a quick shot of three implementations of an ATmega168 connected to multiple TLC5940s. The board on the left is powered from 3 "AA" batteries; the middle with a proper 5v power supply; and the right side board is powered from a 2A LiPoly battery.(and has 3 TLC5940's but only one with a LED - hence the single red LED in the video).
Software is the 'fade' example provided with the library.
