What kind of line do you prefer best to use with a baitcaster?

I adjust mine by loosening the bait adjuster as loose as it will go with no left/right play in the spool and leave it there for all lures. But I have a very educated thumb from 40 years of using bait casters. I will tighten it a little more if I'm throwing into the wind. Someone just learning should adjust the reel just how he tells it. If you still birdsnest tighten the bait adjuster were you have to lightly bounce the tip of the rod and the bait drops a foot or two and stops on it's own.
