Storm Summoner

A three-year old artwork, back from 2007. Uploading this for reference and so that I won't lose this again. I wish I used different music...

Storm Summoner is about a young child expressing her emotions through the power of the clouds in the sky. As the sky grows darker, it illustrates how deep into the darker emotions the viewer is getting. The hands are used to symbolize her interactivity with the clouds, which show the child's hatred, sympathy, and frustration. As the pace of the music quickens, so do the pans of the photos and the darker the clouds become. At the last shot of the hands, it is shown that the child wants calm to return by the positioning of the palms of her hands. It relates back to the theme "in a blink of an eye" by the clouds. Clouds change their shape and colour in a matter of seconds or in a blink of an eye, if you will. In the work, the clouds change from a peaceful white to a storming grey in a matter of seconds. It is no different in real life, when the sky can be blue and in five minutes a storm could be on the horizon. The young child is used to symbolize innocence among the chaos, trying to relieve herself of all of the dark emotions of the world by conjuring a storm in front of her. The music in the background, which is a remixed version of "Another Side, Another Story" by Yoko Shimomura for the video game Kingdom Hearts is a perfect mixture of calmness and quick paced music that provides the Photostory with both the dark and light-hearted emotions needed to convey in the work.
