The Leaders Debate for the Ontario election was televised from the CBC Front Street Studios on Sept 20, 2007. The Ontario Autism Coalition was there both before and after to remind the Leaders that Autism issues are important and much more remains to be done.

This video contains segments from the broadcast relevant to teh Autism Community.

The Ontario Autism Coalition formed in 2005 and has grown into an Ontario-wide organization with over 600 members. The OAC organized over 20 rallies to draw public attention to the need for publicly funded programs that effectively meet the needs of individuals in the Autism community. They have also met with countless government policy advisors, senior provincial Cabinet Ministers and M.P.P.'s to make their case. For more information on the OAC and how you can help us help families and children with Autism, please visit our website at http://www.ontarioautismcoalition.com

  • was that really the whole debate? How come it was so short?

  • it was a 90 minute debate. This presentation is just the segments where Autism was mentioned... having said that, a 10 minute video on Autism when it was not one of the questions shows there was some good focus on our issue by the leaders.

  • Let's call him MCGUILTY from now on...lying scumbag. Never again will i vote for him.

  • There is a 2 billion surplus.

  • Hmm..there is one problem I can think of with that. Maybe a Tory supporter here could explain? I mean no offense, but I am curious as to how Tory will find the funds to provide public funding to religious schools, splitting up the system from one public to numerous others, while still ensuring well funded programs for Autistic kids & teens such as myself.

  • I feel that the NDP stands up the most for my interests. I am eager to attend university in the near future to work towards a major in Political Science, and I would love to see lower tuition fees, as would many of my friends.

  • As a grade 12 student with Autism, I support the NDP. I know Ontario had problems with Bob Rae, but there were extenuating circumstances and I trust Hampton at least more than McGuinty. As for Tory, even my lifelong Conservative grandmother is so frustrated with him that she's decided to vote Liberal.

  • cool, thanks for the information

  • Promises after promises - all are broken like shooting the gun in the air. McGuity must send back home this October. As a university student, I am so worry about the mammoth increase of tuition fees in Ontario under this wishy-washy neo-liberal McGuity premiership.

  • im voting mcguinty.
