@ twinPaula12. This song was written by Darrell "Sonny" Edwards who also wrote Why Baby Why, Tender Years, and others. True to fashion in the day many of Edward's songs will have Jones as co-writer. Edwards wrote some really good stuff and I have been fortunate to have been given a lot of his recordings from some family members. My Favorite is when my Heart Hurts No More, recorded by Jones and others.

Can't help but love the possum! Ive listened to this song since I was a kid, and it always sounds just as good, even decades later.I love George Jones, hes my all time favorite singer.Ive been listening to him literally all my life.Thanks for the great song by this great living legend.

There's only one George Jones and this is one of his best. I love everything he sings and his background music is always just right. This is one of the best country songs ever written and I am wondering who wrote this winner. This song is played constantly on the juke box at our American Legion Post. It's great to dance to and, of course, listen to. Thank you for this treasure. - Paula

I love George Jones and the background music. This is a great song. My favorite all-time singer is Ricky Van Shelton. I don't believe I have heard this song, but I really like it, especially with George Jones. Thank you for posting it. Gwen
