It's springtime in Valais! Club Trese and family rented a house in Saas Grund during the Pentecost weekend to visit the area and to celebrate the birthdays of Elden (unfortunately in Somalia at that time), Pat, Agnes, Belle, Severin and Egay on Saturday. The Murillos prepared the food and the Laues provided the birthday cakes (ordered from the local bakery). Lorraine and Citas organized and lead the kitchen duty, while Pat, Beni and Rose organized the lakwatsa. Yssa was our treasurer, and everyone helped with cooking, dishwashing, babysitting, garbage-sorting (very important in Switzerland), translating, photo-shooting, driving, eating (very important for Club Trese), calling out the Bingo numbers and simply making everyone happy. Sunday was Mothers Day. We visited some llamas in Saas Grund, went to Mattmark Dam, took the cable car to Kreuzboden and some of us went to the ski town of Saas Fee, which was almost deserted except for a handful of skiers. The glaciers and snow-capped mountains were breath-taking. We went home on Pentecost Monday. Severin and Gereon enjoyed the "ghost" train that took our car through the dark Kandersteg-Goppenstein tunnel that connects the Berner Oberland and Valais. Before the weekend trip, I harvested some calamondin fruits (which look like little oranges but taste like calamansi) from two of my plants for the tapang giniling we had for breakfast on Sunday. As Boni puts it, the weekend was "fulfilling and filling". Sa uulitin!
I took most of the photos but I also borrowed some from Arvin, Derek, Boni and Pat. Thanks to Sugar Ray for the background song Someday.
