C - 2008 CFV Tecolutla, Veracruz MX VIDA MILENARIA Tecolutla Schools Ecology Day

Sr Manzano invited us to come to VIDA MILENARIA for their school system's Ecology Day. Hundreds of kids showed up and thousands of sea turtles were released. Permanent conservation of this species, tortuga lora, can only be made possible through strong education programs. Sr Manzano wants to put a hatchling in the hand of every possible Mexicano child, so the child might be able to appreciate the animal for its intrinsic value to the planet. Even in the northern gulf there's an education campaign in the Texas Public School System: to teach children of all ages to understand the significance of this species folks in the US call Kemp's ridley: It's only home is the Gulf of Mexico. If it can't nest here, it can't nest anywhere.
