I'm sorry you felt my response was negative; I did not intend to hurt your feelings or discourage you from sharing your thoughts in a more suitable form. Sometimes people confuse my straight forward way of writing as insulting. I apologize. I wish you all the best, and I DO think you should start a blog because you have some neat ideas.

Wow Susan. I wasn't expecting something so negative from you. I know there are a lot of negative people on You Tube, but, I didn't realize you are one of them. As YouTube said:Dealing with Haters and Trolls
YouTube is all about sharing and it can feel great to get positive feedback and attention from the community. But just like in the offline world, not everyone online is nice. Some people hide behind text and write mean or insulting things.
I shared some positive comments w/ other people.

If your comment was not for me, I request that you place your comments on your own site for folks to read. Start a blog, like I did. Your opinion is valuable, and you need a proper form to express yourself.

Hi Susan! Thanks for your Reply. Exactly! What you said is right. But, my comments weren't for U. They were intended for those proposing the question, who "watch the clock". I only had a number of "character" I could put in my comments, but, I wanted to squeeze in that one lifetime isn't enough to accomplish what one wants to in music, so, why watch the clock? Usually a couple of hours even go by before I look up from my guitar, & when I was serious, it was a living breathing all the time thing.

I think it's important to focus on the quality of a practice session, not just the amount of time a person practices.
For me, working hard at music has always been something I just did, like breathing. When I began teaching, I learned that most students don't love it like I do, and that was hard for me to accept. I am a musician because there is no other option for me.
Count your hours if you have to, but I really hope that you just enjoy every second on your guitar.

Regarding the question: How much should I practice? I first asked this when I started. I thought if I practiced an hour a day, I'd get good. Then, I met someone who practiced a couple of hours a day, and he was "okay" but, had been playing a lot longer, so I practiced 2 hours a day. I finally worked up to 6 hours a day regularly, (while I worked hard during the day)& I practiced 12-15 hrs a day on weekends. Years later, I met an old friend of Stevie & he practices 8 hrs a day, & has for 30 years
