We demonstrate how physical objects can be unobtrusively tracked on an interactive table, such as the Microsoft Surface, by employing a hybrid tracking approach. The objects placed on the surface are positioned through Computer Vision and identified through RFID, allowing for interactions that blend the boundaries between the real objects and the virtual, rear-projected imagery.
In the video, a user places different artifacts on the surface, which triggers a search and download of the 5 most recent related images on Flickr. The retrieved images may now be manipulated in different ways, for example, copied in a tangible fashion to other physical objects, such as a personal badge.
