Giant Lantern Festival 2010 Champion (Ligligan Parol 2010)

The champion lantern who won in the Giant Lantern Festival 2010 (Ligligan Parol 2010) of San Fernando, Pampanga (the Christmas capital of the Philippines), which is near my hometown of Angeles City. 20 feet high lanterns with 7,000 to 8,000 light bulbs dancing in sync with the music. "Ligligan Parol" was said to have started in San Fernando in the year 1908. Now one big lantern - intricately made with wire, fiberglass and handmade paper - was made for each barrio, which was created through a cooperative effort. Each resident contributed to its construction, from the concept and design, to the materials and labor.
