This video has made me lose my faith in humanity. Because someone has gone to a lot of trouble to make and upload a pleasant video based on her interest in old language, as a bit of fun and a demonstration, and you disgusting people start the same tired old faith war and argue about right wrong and blood and death. I'm sick of it.

@Laurannah101 someone needs to take his or her happy medicine
Helvítis rugludallar sem að halda að þeir séu einhverskonar guðir gagnvart öllu.....

@Saya1450 Have you ever heard of the battle of stikklestad? If you did you know, you would understand that many did NOT convert freely! but was forced to!
So i find it very sickening to spill mud over our proud Old Norse language!

It's rather petty how so many people come on here wailing about how the language of their ancestors is being ruined somehow by being used this way.
Weird, considering how Norsemen eventually converted to Christianity anyway, and thus would have spoken this, as well. Not all, but still a considerable few.
My ancestors are Norse, and others, Anglo-Saxon, and I find this rather light, really.
Many of my pagan friends found this beautiful, too.
I myself respect the Old Gods, and find this beautiful.

@Miketamine You mad bro? Telling people to shut the fuck up...and then say "everyone is entitled to freedom of speach" 1. you spelled speech wrong. 2. you told me to shut up, but then argued that everyone should have the write to speak. 3. It's obvious that you're an idiot.

@bartyfarslar thank you.

@TheBreizh94 Why not post the right pronunciation..it would be big help in learning for those of us trying :)

This is an ABOMINATION. The language of Heroes and Gods being used by Christian scum.
Old norse is basically icelandic. Most of the manuscrips we say are in old norse come from iceland, and modern icelanders like myself can understand them without any problem. Also the pronounciation has basically not changed, and though I understand what you are saying (you're basically reciting the prayer in icelandic) the pronounciation is not really right. Come to Iceland, we'll teach you!

@TheBreizh94 Haha yeah, re-listening to this makes me wince a bit now. I'm an American, attempting to teach myself this language via mostly reading, so my knowledge of what it should sound like is rather imperfect. I tried though. I would love to actually learn Icelandic from a native speaker and visit your country one day. :)

This is insulting...very insulting. My heart is broken by this...not only do you spit on my pagan ancestors... you've fucking spit in me.

@Laurannah101 Then don't watch it. And I'm sorry, but it is a fact that that the old pagans of Scandinavia converted to Christianity. I did not write the translation myself. It comes from an old manuscript written by Norse Christians. Whether you are Christian, pagan, Buddhist, atheist, etc. you should still be able to appreciate the beauty of the language.
