"The Filipinos did most of the fighting and most of the dying..."

This tells the "truer story" behind the "forgotten war" of Bataan and Corregidor -- savage battles that violently hurled falsely reassured Filipinos and an ill-prepared Philippines into the Second World War in the Pacific. Produced by the Department of National Defense of the Philippines and the Philippines Veterans Affairs Office this series of videos documents the outstanding courage, heroism and nobility of Filipinos regardless the inevitable fall of the country to the unrelenting Imperial Japanese military juggernaut. An outcome inevitably irreversible despite the fierce resistance of the mostly Filipino and American defenders as the United States government relegated succor to the loyal but unwarily naive Philippine Commonwealth as secondary to America's commitment to her European allies.

This historical account belies many of the myths that have long distorted the realities of Philippine American relations and a must for the serious student of history, geopolitics and military matters. On a lighter yet equally revealing note it also gives a glimpse of pre-war Manila and Philippine society.

  • That would be good!

A people must not be ignorant of their real history if they are to be truly free; and only in being free can a nation rise and realize her historical destiny.

You're welcome and thank you too for sharing your thoughts, bullaklak.

  • Walang anuman po... it's heartening you enjoyed it.

Sa tutoo lang and estoriang ito - tulad sa maraming katotohanan tungkol sa ating bayan at lahi - ay matagal ng balot ng kadiliman. Panahon lang na lahat ng ito'y ibunyag sa lahat, para sa lahat!

  • We Filipinos stood united during then but it's sad how devided we are today. Moro, Igorot, Ilocano, Tagalog, Visaya, what ever you are we are all Filipino. This division is our greatest weakness. May God Bless our nation.

  • @christlubas Same as Philippines, but the difference between two countries were Filipinos have gone to mountains to train guerilla warfare and Russians fought by following Stalin's order (Not one step back), leading them into a battlefield without guns (Yeah, they are given weapons by their commissars with no bullets, they have been given with bullets without carbines, or none at all, just bare hands)

  • I saw Adolf Hitler and the Emperor of Kingdom of Italy at the half part of the video x(

  • filipinos did it not americans

  • Their obsolete weapons would have looked advanced to the Japanese.

  • @bushi541 So True So True!

  • @jehril filipinos were used as human shields just to protect the americans! while wating for their help of escape!... huh! what a propaganda that U.S liberated Philippines?

  • @ppfilipino War Plan Orange real intention was to rescue only G.I.'s, and they will wait in Bataan. Bat sad to say their help was delayed, leaving Filipinos and Americans in a swampy jungle warfare. Meaning to say, Filipinos were just used as Human Shields! until U.S realized that Filipinos are willing and still fighting! Thus making them back- The return of McArthur! they chose Bataan for its altitude and strategic defensive area!but we always look on the brighter side.everything! a propaganda!

  • @ppfilipino yes just watch Back to Bataan or an American guerrilla in the Philippines, there are many great old movies on the subject!

  • and the great Gen. McArthur had return along with him is hundreds of thousands of allied soldiers and military equipments fulfilling his promised to return freeing the Philippines from Japanese tyranny and oppression. he instructed his officers before he leave to form guerilla factions under the command of American and Filipino officers.. please complete your story communist, fascist, socialist pig....
