Dr. Doug Mcguff (co-author of Body By Science) continues with his presentation of Training the lower back, demonstrating three exercises that can be performed to strengthen the lower back for those who do not have access to MedX or Nautilus lower back machines.
Hi Doug, We are big fans of BBS. On the lower back stuff, should this be once a week also even though we are not suppose to go to failure?

If the second and third exercise have the same effect as the first, why not just do the first?

thanks. great info !
So whats the benefits working out these in isolation?
Considering "in the wild" there should be movement to engage complex muscle workouts.
I assume its all part of core strength, etc.

IMO with the DL mvt you are demonstrating rotation at the hip and allowing decreased curvature of LS. do you really want ROM here? as for the floor exercise i dont think you are gonna generate much stimulus with BW static, not when i have seen myself generate 500#+ static thrust with a bar across my pelvis holding lumbars in extension driving heels and scaps into floor.
