Lindsay Gray, the Henricus Historical Park Agricultural Specialist, demonstrates the steps it takes to stem and hand the summer's tobacco crops and discusses the history of growing Virginia tobacco. Filmed September 2009. (The cicadas were really bad that day...sorry for the sound quality!)

Is it best to harvest them before they produce flowers? I have some growing in an Aquaponic system and they have way way way out grown all of their neighbouring plants and they must come down! Both Nicotiana Rustica plants I have grown have produced beautiful little yellow flowers but I'm not sure what to do with them now.
