Cosmetic surgeon Dr. Alex Rivkin shows Dr. Ordon and Dr. Stork how he injects Botox into the masseter muscles of Suzannes jaw to treat her TMJ, an inflammation of the temporal-mandibular joint in the jaw. For more information go to TheDoctorsTV.com.
@ShufflerShaax same here but im 15 and i because i ate those layered lolipops of chilly called rockalettas and it hurts! before it wasnt bad, it would just make the click noise but now i cant even open my mouth wide because it HURTS! i try to unlock it but it wont budge:(
One day I ate tough lollies and my jaw popped out of place then popped back into place. When i eat it clicks and now its so bad i can't even yawn or open my mouth to a full extent because it feels so locked. And I'm only 14.. this is great
I am a dentist and believe that upwards of 90-95% of TMD patients can be treated extremely conservatively. It is important to know that most dentists, and I mean MOST dentists are confused about TMD and proper treatment protocol. Also, not all night guards are the same. My feelings on botox, is that it is treating symptoms and not causes and therefore we will continue to see symptoms indefinitely. I could tell that the Doctors in this video couldn't even explain the causes of bruxism.
this video is outdated, and treatment before accurate diagnosis can be not just expensive, but dangerous. Muscle relaxants and Botox can provide temporary relief only and are not FDA approved treatments for good reason. The only effective diagnostic for TMD, which causes the majority of TMjoint pain, is EMG. Good old fashioned electromylography. You can get an accurate diagnosis (and treatment), by renting an ipod sized unit from a dentist. Goodle Grindcare USA. Diagnose before treating!!
@arfx3 Agreed. Dr. Keller is a very smart dude. His level of training/study is remarkable. His patients get relief. I have sent several patients to him. He does great work.
HOWEVER- "TMD" can be caused by many different things. (Dr. Keller would agree.) Braces can fix some of those patients. Massage therapy or chiropractic care can help others. Splints (of various forms) will help MOST.
Botox doesn't cure TMD, & treating without diagnosis first is heinous. Botox migrates to the brain, among other side effects, and is NOT FDA approved for TMD for good reason. But google TMD and get bzillions of docs ready to inject you for profit that is never covered. Effective DX for TMD is non invasive EMG, which can also prove whether you have stopped chronic bruxing (TMD) - google Grindcare (no, I sell nothing. Botox is worth the risks for incurable MS and eyelid spasms but NOT for TMD).
@satacami ooh and no more wrinkles. I know was really early for me to get wrinkles but my jaw was dropping so it was pulling down my face. Now I look like any 22 year old young women .
