Fiat Coupe - Castle Combe 1.45pm

This was taken at the Castle Combe Retro and Sportscar action day, 14th June 2008, 1.45pm session.

As is the norm at Combe, all overtaking is done on the right which often puts you off the race line!! In this instance I make an error of judgement by going full throttle on the inside line from Camp up to Avon Rise effectively pushing my apex 50m up the track! I made a decision not to turn too sharply hoping for a good bit of flat grass, the wall came mighty close though at 125mph!!

Anyway lesson learnt, do not go full throttle on the inside line again!!

I was on the 3.15 session and it was at quarry as a red Fiat had just passed and slowed suddenly looking down at his dash.

I am glad your car is ok its not nice when your car gets dinged.

Ah yes that was me, it was the Cossie that made me slow down! I am hitting around 130-135mph just over Avon Rise and I slow as normal for entry into Quarry but the Cossie really slowed down which I wasn't expecting at all. Unfortunately it was too late so I had the choice of either going into the back of him or slinging down the left out of position! I took the latter as there was nothing I could do! No idea why the Cossie slowed so much?

Hi are you the same Red Fiat coupe that slowed right up as I was about to pass a Cossie, hope your car is not damaged.

I was in a dark blue Dolomite sprint.

Would love to hear your engine but the music yuk.

Hmmm, not sure although I didn't see any other red coupes on the day. What session was this in?

Always had a soft spot for your car are they reliable?

Just sold a Lancia HF turbo a fine little car but not quicker than the Sprint.
