13WHAM-TV reports on the popcorn container design contest at the Little Theater organized by students and faculty in RIT's School of Design.
Ginny Ryan: Students from RIT are cooking up a new look for a movie theater favorite. As part of their packaging design class, they redesigned the traditional popcorn bag. The bags were displayed at the Little Theater tonight. They were judged on functionality, aesthetics and general appeal. Casey Moosman came in third place. She says she wanted something that was educational and entertaining.
Casey: "My boxes highlight significant moments in the film industry's history, as well as significant movies, and there's a trivia aspect for the end of the bag."
Ginny: And first place went to Michael Rodriguez's letter boxes. He'll get a free one-year student membership to the Little.
Don Alhart: For a competition at the Little Theater, he was pretty smart to put the Little Theater in his design.
Glenn Johnson: He's going places.
Ginny: He's going to the movies, that's for sure (laughter).
