@gloria2270 I've seen one. I was on a 4 hour hike in a beautiful mountain on Oahu, where I live. It just flew right past me and I got a good 2-3 second look. It was about 4 in. tall, completely black as if someone carved it out of stone, looked smooth and shiny, opaque (even the wings), and the weird part was that it didn't move as it, well, floated by me. Its wings didn't move, or its body. I'm positive it wasn't a dragonfly or a weird bug because hawaii doesn't have many bugs.
