In one week in the late '90s, the church got kicked out of their building and got robbed of their only computer. They had no way to get a hold of anyone to tell people they'd moved, and no money or even equipment to print anything to announce it. That's when a church member told Pastor Mark about this thing called the internet.

This clip is a preview of the God's Work, Our Witness Documentary, which will be shown in all Mars Hill Church services this Sunday, December 4. To find a location near you, visit http://marshill.com/locations_and_services

The documentary gives a glimpse at the ups and downs of the early years of Mars Hill Church. It's a story that includes didgeridoos during offering, tithing with one-dollar bills, and one really bizarre avant-garde Japanese concert—but more than any of that, it's a story of how God was incredibly faithful to a group of people who had no idea what they were doing, except that they were committed to the gospel of Jesus Christ and to building and serving his church.

You see, sometimes I ask God why there is poverty, suffering, and injustice in this world when He could do something about it.

But sometimes I'm afraid he might as me the same question ...

  • @brajamtho757 i am a christian and i completely agree with you bro, i think you will be really interested in a book called "radical" by a guy named david platt. he pretty much says the same thing that you just said but he runs a megachurch

  • It is amazing what the Lord will do, when we remain faithful to him! You are right there will be hard times, and great times when we do the Creator's work, but I would rather be working for Him, than to fall with the evil one! I am glad that you put these sermons on YouTube. I would never have found these inspiring words and I personally thank you. Keep it up, Mark !

  • Why don't you use seat belts?

  • @derhammerman Yes (see also: Jesus).

  • @perfectpolyphony Please don't. Youtube is over run with that kind of stuff. I personally advocate a respect revolution on social networking sites like this one where people can agree or disagree without having to insult each other personally. It would be nice to go onto one video and not see countless numbers of comments that are basically just childish name calling back and forth.

  • Let's degenerate into a flame war.

  • @Protoman5801 This is actually a really good point in context to the beliefs. Unfortunately, it's not furthering any kingdoms, but I'm glad it makes you all feel good.
