watada deserves praise for his decision. the one criticism i have of him is that he expressed a willingness to be sent to afghanistan. after all, what's the difference between being an instrument of american terrorism in iraq and being an instrument of american terrorism in afghanistan?
it is understandable why those J.A's from WW II resisted, but watada VOLUNTEERED for the military!(different war-different circumstances) now, the u.s goes to war and watada has 2nd thoughts! u should have thought of that before u volunteered u dumb ass! i guess u had second thoughts of whether all those perks of enlisting (g.i. bill, college $ etc.)was really worth it when your country called u on it! as a J.A. myself, i find your actions contemptible. u are an embarrassment and a traitor!
Listen about halfway through this clip to hear Lt. Watada's thoughtful remarks about not standing on the sideline if you believe something is wrong. He emerges as a remarkable young man.

E. Watada was heavily influenced by his Dad Bob which is a shame. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
