Based off the successful design of the model 98 Mauser, the model 54 was well received by the shooting and was the first firearm chambered for the popular 270 Winchester cartridge. OOPS! I forgot about the .17 rimfire. Same applications.

@slowride55 Rimfire are now only .22 caliber - they are for short-range target shooting and small critter hunting. Center-fire are for everything else. I can't say which is more common - a lot of people shoot .22s for practice because they are cheaper than center-fire.

at 0:27 that is not a German model 98 mauser but rather a czech 24/47.
