Hawk the Western Region tank engine, returns to the yard after a stint on the Lickey Incline as a banking engine. He meets Gronk, the new diesel shunter, and they together run into a spot of bother with the shunting...

  • since I have started to watch your series I have really started to like the A1s and have been looking to get one for myself but I have heard that they are weak engines, is this true about them?

  • @Henryfan3 - a bit of fettling with some lead shot in the top of the boiler, above the driving wheels, and they are fine. None of mine have actually needed that, mind.

  • How come you didn't put faces on those mainline diesels?

  • Let's just say that at the time I really had no idea how on earth I was going to put faces on them :(

  • 1953 actually - we'll be moving into 1956 by Easter, and by next christmas, 1964...
