From "Anne Murray in Nova Scotia", 1993. With the spectacular Cabot Trail as a backdrop, Anne Murray is joined by Rita MacNeil, The Rankin Family, The Gospel Heirs, Men of the Deeps and friends to sing "Rise Again".
About "Rise Again": This song was written in 1984 by Cape Breton poet-songwriter Leon Dubinsky and debuted in the show "The Rise and Follies of Cape Breton Island". Originally sung by Raylene Rankin and the cast members (which included Rita MacNeil), it was released as a single by The Rankin Family in 1993 and quickly became a signature song for the group. Much to the delight of their audiences, they have re-recorded it on their most recent CD "These Are the Moments", 2009, and continue to include it in their concert set list. Raylene also sings "Rise Again" as part of her solo performances and fondly refers to the song as a "companion" who has been with her for many years.
When the waves roll on over the waters And the ocean cries We look to our sons and daughters To explain our lives As if a child could tell us why
That as sure as the sunrise As sure as the sea As sure as the wind in the trees We rise again in the faces of our children We rise again in the voices of our song We rise again in the waves out on the ocean And then we rise again
When the light goes dark with the forces of creation Across a stormy sky We look to reincarnation to explain our lives As if a child could tell us why
That as sure as the sunrise As sure as the sea As sure as the wind in the trees We rise again in the faces of our children We rise again in the voices of our song We rise again in the waves out on the ocean And then we rise again
We rise again in the faces of our children We rise again in the voices of our song We rise again in the waves out on the ocean And then we rise again...

Thanx to the miners, Anne Murray, the Rankin's, and all those who make a difference in keeping themselves and their neighbors strong. . .may God bless!
we sang this in our Men's mass choir at ACC Choir Camp...cant wait till next year. this was a very moving song and reminds me of the tear jerking song, "Tell My Father"
cant wait till next year...maybe we'll sing another song like this
Wow we sang this in youth choir in 6th grade. I have been trying to remember the name of the song. Luckily I came across the programme from the performance we did it in. I wanted a solo so bad in it, but didn't get it.
