A close match with chances for both sides was settled at the death with a penalty for FC to clinch this eagerly awaited cup tie two nil. The reds had the better of the first half and were rewarded by Daniel Grimshaw's close range strike to go in one up at the break. Although Burscough gave keeper James Spencer some action they could level the game and Astley Mulholland's spot-kick in injury time sealed the away Doodson Sport Cup victory.
