I sing this bariton aria to strengthen my voice,and for fun.I should not have sung the high C after all this low and difficult singing,for a High C tenor like me.The C is not good.I sang another aria before this one and put it on youtub: Where´er you walk by Handel. (Not quite the sam "fach".) I try to sing many different arias and stay flexible.Every wally,Im fernem land,La donna e mobile,Chella mi creda,O sole mio,Dalla sua pace,La vita e inferno,Il mio tesoro,Di quella pira,O Isis und Osiris (a bass aria ) and Pour mon ame,(nine high C)
I put ALL the tenorpart in Rigoletto on youtube. I am releashing a c.d. soon, (with much better sound quality I hope) this is filmed on a normal Samsung Digimax L50 camera in my living room. @Yitzhakhazak I think you make good and helpful comments. I will think of them when singing....I am also lately trying to add more vibrato and live in the voice. I hope it will work....I am going to try to get lessons from Kristján Jóhannsson,tenor from Iceland,a strong metal voice....

@JakePenick karifrid has tendency to close his throat in most of his singing. That automatically pulls the throat upward. In this video, he positions his vocal point slightly lower. That enhances vibrato and color. My point basically is that if you open your throat and keep it relaxed, it will sink down a bit. I don't mean to lower it unnaturally. Thanks for commenting. water.

@waterturki Never listen to anyone who tells you to lower your larynx. All that does is lock your larynx in place and forces you to use your neck muscles instead of allowing your vocal chords to sing freely without tension. Don't listen to all the advice you get on youtube because chances are that they don't know what they are talking about, especially if they tell you to lower your larynx. It is extremely unhealthy, and it ruins voices. It causes tension and forces you to push.

I am not an expert....but i like to hear open voices rather than those over darker....

like the old italian singers...."you have work to do"....but i like in general....keep going....

I would say at some parts, you're trying too hard for legato. A lot of this aria almost "spoken" — try for more accents and detachment at, for example, "Figaro, son qua".

I have watched and listened to some of your other performances. I do hear some operatic quality in this one in particular. You do have substantially strong middle voice here because you instinctively keep you throat open and position your larynx fairly low and that is correct. The problem I hear is when you sing the upper register. You let your throat close,your larynx go up and drop chest resonance. This is why you lose your natural timbre and healthy vibrato.
