Here is my third upload from Video Art II. Once again I must give my spiel about how this is video art and to consider it within the context of popular media would be foolhardy.
It is very important to understand the context of this piece. This piece was made as a part of a group project. Every member of the class provided footage and each of us then created a piece from that footage. There were some requirements on shooting but they were not particularly restrictive and didnt include any rules on the content of the images. There also was no preplanning as to what the final pieces would become and each member created notably different works with the same basic materials. In this way none of the footage was shot specifically for this piece and the editing is responsible for making this into a cohesive whole. All the images were originally in color and were made black and white during editing, some of the shots were widescreen and some were full and so the aspect ratio was adjusted, and the contrast was tweaked. Some may note that this project bares a strong resemblance to ONN Revisit: Silent Everyday Heroes Vol. 1: Mr. Enlighten, a project I made back in high school. In that case I shot an episode of a show, but hated it so much that I cut the sound made it black and white and used the footage along with music to make a completely different piece. I myself had not made the connection to that piece until just now as I was uploading this one.
