This drawing snippet was inspired by a query left in the Art Clinic section of Paul Taggart's website http://www.artworkshopwithpaul.com

Original Question
i would like to improve my drawing skills using pencils which art techniques series would you recommend???
Paul's 'Art Techniques from Pencil to Paint' series of six books was produced to demonstrate how drawing and painting are linked as well as the progressive route from drawing to painting.
The series works as a progressive journey from the simplest of scribbly sketches to complete paintings, but each book is in its own right complete in showing the intgeractive nature between drawing and painting.
The series of six books starts with 'Line to Stroke', then 'Line and Wash', 'Texture and Effects', 'Light and Shade', 'Sketch and Colour' and finally 'Brush and Colour'.
This Paul Taggart Drawing Snippet is designed to show how a basic pencil and a loose approach is one way forward in starting off in drawing. No need to be afraid of putting pencil to paper, exploit the freedom of scribbling with the side and point of the pencil lead to produce enjoyable sketches.
To leave a question from which Paul will select the subject for his next Painting Snippet please leave your query in the Art Clinic of hismain website http://www.artworkshopwithpaul.com (secure log-in required).
Thank you for the careful explanation on whittling down the pencil.....I've never seen how to do this and have hacked up more good pencils, to nubbins, because I never knew this simple thing!
And you make using the pencil soooo easy, too...even I bet I can do it.....

@ooman56 - apologies for not getting your comment until now - a glitch somewhere. Just wanted to say thankyou for taking the time and trouble to post your comment here and so glad to have been of help. Hope all goes well with your drawing and you are saving those pencils now, instead of hacking them up to nubbins!!
