You should've used the Magma Bazooka on the Elephants. Instead of the Concrete Shot.

Although you may have figured it out by now, at the last up-platform you can use T.Blow instead of waiting for the platform to rise. Also against the elephants, I believe the M.Bazooka kills them a lot faster than the C.Shot.

I think that was deliberate that they stop the timer on the weapon select screen. I guess they're testing your abilities to effectively use your weapons and adapters to get through a stage as quickly as possible.

This was a heck of a run, beats my best time on this stage by almost 30 seconds. (My best time for Concrete Man right now is 1:58.15.
