Brother Buzz has been the spokesperson for The Latham Foundation for over 80 years. With great charm and several manifestations, he has helped us spread our message of kindness to all. Brother Buzz began as a character in our children's stories in the late 1930's, had his own radio program a decade later, and in 1952 became a TV star as a marionette operated by Ralph Chesse. The Wonderful World of Brother Buzz was on the air until 1969. This limited edition DVD gives you a a bit of our history to enjoy the story telling of days gone by.

  • Thanks for posting this. Kids shows used to teach us morals and values. I still have my brother Buzz lapel pin and membership certificate in a frame in my office.

    Thanks Brother Buzz

  • @turkthagoras We would encourage you to have a picture taken and send Latham a note about how your Brother Buzz membership and pledge have helped you in your life. Still having it framed is quite an honor, thank you.

  • Helping children understand the importance of showing respect to animals, and understanding the valuable response they receive back is what we are about. As a core value, when you know to show respect to animals - you will show respect for other people as well. We believe an important concept is to focus on those key things we agree on, and encourage diversity cooperation.

Thank you for sharing, your work and keep up our working together to help the animals and each other.

  • another precious gift to us by surviving memebers of the WWII generation

  • Dear Latham,

There was an attemp to bring back "Brother Buzz"to tv..in the 1970's there was a nationally syndicated version..but the puppets from the original series were gone. And an animated cartoon version of the character was hosting.

  • I remember seeing reruns of"The Brother Buzz"kids tv puppet show sunday mornings on WABC TV Ch.7 in NYC during the late 1960's.

  • Having grown up in the Bay Area, I remember being "glued" to the tv screen when Brother Buzz was on. For my generation, I know of many kids who diligently watched Howdy Doody, but I have absolutely no recollection of that show what so ever, but remember Brother Buzz flying through the forest, as if it was just yesterday. Perhaps it is because of this early developer of a childs mind, that I have such an inherent love and respect of nature in all ways. Thank you Brother Buzz!!!!

  • I lived in Berkeley in1957 and also assumed it was a network show(later on).I loved Brother Buzz as a child and remember him flying around a seemingly circular

set to get from one place to another.

  • Wow! I had no idea this was a local production (I grew up in San Jose). I had a fuzzy and distant memory of marionettes and that "buzzing" music but I couldn't remember the name. As a vegetarian and an animal rights activist, I am astonished to learn that this show had always been about "kindness and respect" to animals. I am now wondering if, perhaps, this show didn't plant some part in planting seeds in my goofy little 8 year old head. My god, what if this show had been about knitting?

  • Thank you. I remember watching Brother Buzz when I was a little kid. Great to see it again after all these years.
