Really neat chrome Italian Rumi Scooter from the 1950s. Even more fun than looking at this neat little scooter is listening to a bunch of old guys, myself included, talking themselves out of buying it when they find out it's for sale. I still kind of wish I'd bought it.

  • Hi guys!! this is an argentinian Rumi, no italian!! Regards

  • @claudiohn Really? Did Rumi have a factory in Argentina? I thought they were Italian.

  • @hoohoohoblin @hoohoohoblin All Moto Rumi frames, engines and bodywork are made in Bergamo, Italy. The Italian factory sent bikes that were 85-90% complete to Argentina where the importers would add the missing components (taillight, seats, horn, handlebars and light switch) that were made in Argentina so as to avoid higher import taxes.

  • @foster4391 Sneaky tax dodging! That explains it. Thanks!

  • Nice, somehow it reminds me of the meat slicer we had at the deli shop!

  • @cuzuman Ha ha! You nailed it. I suppose you could weld razor blades to the spokes on the back wheel, put it on the center stand, fire it up and slice up some pepperoni.

  • I've got a chrome Rumi Formichino almost just like this one, except it's Italian, from 1958, and is a 150 cc prototype.

  • @FormichinoForum I agree with you, always i wanted to say that... Regards

  • @claudiohn The Formichino as all other Moto Rumi are Italian. The brand is from Bergamo (Italy) as another person said below.

Another thing is that Rumi sent dismantled almost the all bike to Argentina and for this market they finished the assembly there as well as fabricate a few minor parts just for this country, as for example the front fender, but please do not get confuse, the bike is Italian and the brand is Italian and almost all parts were made in Europe.

  • @foster4391 right, italian number, on the left with 5 digits, the argentines number, on the right with 4 digits.

  • @chn70 The "R125" stamp is followed by a frame number, which you needed to export the bike from Italy. Rumis sent to Argentina where stamped on the right-side of the motor and all others were stamped on the left.

  • Are you sure that the numbers in Argentine's engines was stamped at Bergamo??? or was stamped in Argentina??

  • The front mudguard is the most important piece, for which we can determine if a bike is Italian or Argentine. This chrome Rumi have an argentine one. Regards
