KUAM News Thursday, October 04, 2007: Guam's proposed $1.25 Billion defense access road would be used by civilians and "...it'll be like the H3 in Hawaii...[with] access roads off of it..." promises Joint Guam Program Office (JGPO) forward executive director Captain Robert Lee.

The "North-South Road" would provide military with alternative access that links Andersen Air Force Base in north and the Navy base on south. The military use Marine Corps Drive but the road can gridlock during accidents. The highway is expected to be 100% funded by American taxpayers.

Lee said DoD had no official position on the federalization of immigration. The JGPO would not be leasing Harmon cliffline property. They would remain with the Navy admiral at the new COMNAVMAR headquarters in Nimitz Hill.

Quote: "...it'll be like the H3 in Hawaii - the public will be able to use it. It's not going to be a private, separate road...we're going to have to build access roads off of it..." -Cpt. Lee
