This is a portion of Interviews that were recorded in September 1966 in Navasota Texas by Michael Birnbaum. Most of these photographs were taken by Eddie Iwaki who accompanied Birnbaum to Navasota. Birnbaum contributed about 15 hours of recordings to Prof. Wilgus at UCLA in 1966 and they have now become part of the collection in the Ethnomusicology Library at UCLA.

"...even play the guitar but still have a Christian heart". At a time when many elders told the younger people they had to choose between blues and religion here is a man who knew his own mind. A true man, the real deal. "You can't be mean to people", there it is. Not what kind of music you play but if you are kind.
