@MrElectroman3 the radiation from the power plant caused the goverment to evacuate all the citizens of prypiat or chernobly whatever if the where to stay the radiation would have evetually killed them all because radiation can mutate your DNA and cause serious ilness

@udontnoudontno Actually, the Ukrainian government has forbidden every turistic tour in the Zon- i mean, at Pripyat and around the C-NPP.

Long story short: Nuclear power plant, Chernobyl, suffered a catastrophic meltdown in 1986. This spread radiation through the entire city of Prypiat and forced the entire population of Prypiat during that time (50,000 people) to evacuate, never to return again. Nuclear radiation is still there, tours are held but some areas are still contaminated and may never decay for another 900 years or so.

not to bring up COD, but at least the game designers did their research... from what i have seen in the game, it is quite similar to this. Good job to the dev/artist team
