  • I would like to see and know if it works well when swimming breaststroke

  • @versusg1 - It's a good point. Because part of the swim is done with the ears above water, it's not as perfect as for say free or back. But also consider since most of the time, your entire head is underwater, it still works fine.

  • My first swimp3 experience: -Pros - very comfortable, light, you can dive deeper in the pool with no fear of breaking the device, control have good response.

-Cons - I'm a music lover and I must say the sound this device brings out sounds like your grandma's old radio. The only frequency you'll hear is the mid range. Take your head out of the water for a second and the music can't really be heard.

Bottom line - PRICEY and overrated!

  • @onearmfrog - You're right... out of the water, this sounds horrible. In the water, as I've stated before, this is the best all around solution. While you'll sacrifice a bit in audio quality, as you will with any waterproof solution, and while ear plugs may offer higher quality, they also come with problems. So... if you get a less expensive solution (not sure what that would be actually), and it doesn't work, then that's really expensive. I still love mine, and use it a lot.

  • @goswim098 - If I compare the sound quality to my (now deceased) Dolphin mp3 - hearing straight from the earphones made all of the frequencies pass through, including bass. When you're saying "sacrifice a bit in audio quality" - This is not "a bit", this is a lot - I suppose it's just a matter of getting used to it.

  • @onearmfrog Like I said before, my problem with the earplugs was that I couldn't do a simple pushoff without the water pressure pushing the earplugs into the ears and cutting off all sound. So, they ended up being worthless. So sound quality of the Swimp3, if even existent, is far better than other solutions that simply didn't work for me. I've tried 3 different players, this was my only solution. Again, we'll all have various experiences with all equipment.

  • I personally use the waterproof iPod from Underwater Audio. It's waterproofed from the inside (no leaks), it hold 2 GB worth of songs, works directly with iTunes and Audible, and works just as well out of the water as in. Plus, you can use whatever headphones you want, so the sound quality is up to you!

  • @versusg1

Just use earplugs and that should compensate when your head is above the water.

  • which 1 would be a better buy..the SwiMP3 or speedo aquabeat ?? i m very skeptical about how comfortable listening to music underwater may be. .. how would the aquabeat prevent water entering between the earphone and ear canal... i guess u can barely hear any sound once that happens

  • @s2092370 - I've had the complete opposite experience. Earphones trap water in my ears, and when I pushoff, the pressure of the water pushes the earphones into my ears, and there is no sound at all. I'm not sure if it's just me, but that was my experience with both types. I still use, and really enjoy this product, and don't find it too bulky. Again, my opinion. It does sound horrible ABOVE the water, but fine under.
